Percey Mackrill FC 3 FC Corinthians 2

A stunning goal by Pieman, Mark Faulkner, sent Perceys into the 2nd round of this new cup competition and stemmed a fight-back by Perceys lower league opposition.

The performance was not quite up to the standards of recent games, but it was still impressive and commited and saw Perceys win a deserved victory.

Corinthians started fairly well but gradually Percey grabbed hold of the game and created a number of chances that the Corinthians ‘keeper continually spurned. But eventually it was Porno King himself, Andy Cocks, who found the way through the Corries defence and opened the scoring.

As the half wore on, Perceys became more dominant and it was no surprise when Liam Sclaes finished off a really good move and made it 2-0.

But the 2nd half saw a change about in form and fortunes. Percey’s regular substitutions were beginning to have a confusing effect on the team and twice Perceys were caught out as Corinthians clawed their way back into the game to be on level terms at 2-2.

At that point, with the momentum with them, FC Corinthians might have been the favourite to snatch a victory. But Perceys reaffirmed their hold on the game and it became a case – at this point – of next goal wins.

And up stepped the big man who had performed heroics in defence to lash home the winner.

Perceys were through.
